ATG 30 The Roots of Organic Gardening with Randy Frank Leeds, Publisher of Organic Gardening Magazine and Editor, Scott Meyer

ECO WAKE-UP CALL: In July 2005, the Center for Disease Control released a study of the chemical load American’s carry in their bodies. They tested the blood and urine of 2,400 adults and children for the presence of 148 industrial compounds found in our air, water, soil and food and household products and found that many chemicals remain in the body for years after exposure. ATG 29 An Evening with Paul Hawken at the Lensic

TODAY’S ECO WAKE-UP CALL: “The great thing about the dilemma we’re in is that we get to re-imagine every single thing we do. In other words, there isn’t one single thing that we make that doesn’t require a complete remake. And so there are two ways of looking at that. One is like: Oh my gosh, what a big burden. The other way to look at it, which is the way I prefer, is: What a great time to be born! What a great time be alive! Because this generation gets to essentially completely change this world.” (Source: Quote by Paul Hawken, Vanity Fair, May 2007, www.VanityFair.com)

ATG 28 Organic Valley and their Social Experiment with CEO George Siemon

TODAY’S ECO WAKE-UP CALL: Controversy is raging over the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recent initial conclusion that food from cloned cattle, pigs and other livestock is as safe to eat as food products from conventionally grown animals. Proponents maintain that cloning can offer more consistent and higher quality meat and dairy products. Opponents say health risk studies are inadequate. They also question they ethics of the inefficient cloning process which too often produces stillborn or deformed offspring. (Source: The Christian Science Monitor and Washingtonpost.com)
